Campus21-ITOBO Workshop 28th May 2013

This workshop, jointly organised by the Strategic Research Cluster ITOBO and the EU-FP7 project CAMPUS21 presented results from the ITOBO project in a European Context. In the morning results and ITOBO-achievements were presented with lessons learned during the six years research. This was benchmarked against recent European research projects. The topics of these presentations included;

  • From Performance Monitoring to Sustainable Operation of Building Complexes
  • Improved Building Diagnostics through standardised Bldg. Information Modelling
  • Benchmarking Energy Performance through real-time simulation
  • Monitoring, Evaluating and Exploiting user behaviour and user preferences
  • Sensor/Actuator Networks and Middleware solutions for Building Performance Management.

Keynote speeches were also given by Dr Tony Day, Director of the International Energy Research Centre (IERC) and Prof. Raimar Scherer of the Technical University of Dresden.

In the Afternoon an exploratory workshop took place with members of the Campus21 Community of Interest (COI) to discuss future relevant research topic areas which may arise for Horizon 2020 using a structured methodology for guidance. Topics discussed included

  • Self-inspection and continuous commissioning techniques
  • How can BIM support performance benchmarking on European Scale?
  • Challenges for the Integration of Dynamic Energy Management Systems

The results from this brainstorming session have been collated and will be published and shared with participants shortly.

This is the first of two dissemination events related to the EU-FP7 project Campus21. The second will take place in Vienna in conjunction with the BaaS project at the Central European Symposium on Building Physics to be held on 9-11th September 2013.
